The definition of history:

(Webster’s dictionary):  an account of what has or might have happened, especially in the form of a narrative, play, story or tale; 2) what has happened in the life or development of a people, country or institution, etc; a systematic account of this, usually in chronological order with an analysis and explanation.

In talking about human history, we are using #2 as our definition, the history of the human species, Homo sapiens.

The definition of species: (Webster’s dictionary)- a distinct kind; sort; variety; class; 2) outward form, appearance, mental image.  3) (Biological definition)- a naturally existing population of similar organisms the usually interbreed only among themselves, and are given a unique, latinized, binomial name to distinguish them from all other creatures.

Note:  the key to the definition of species is that we, meaning humans, can interbreed (reproduce, create offspring) only among ourselves.  This means that if we “mate” with any other species other than humans, no offspring will be created.

The reason that I want to point out these basic terms will be made clear as we study more about Black History.  Technically, there is no such thing as “black history”, or “white history”, or “Asian history”.  If we are to believe the definitions above mentioned, we must come to the conclusion that history of the human species is colorblind, because the color of one’s skin does not exclude one from the human species.  Notice that I did not say the human race.  There is a good reason for this.  Let’s learn just what is the definition of race.

The sub-division of Humans:

This division into types of humans is labeled as race.  Race (definition)- any of the different varieties or populations of human beings distinguished by: physical traits such as hair, eyes, skin color, body shape, etc:  traditionally, the three primary divisions are Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid, although many subdivisions of these are also called “races”  2) the state of belonging to such a population   3) loosely, a) any geographical population b) any population sharing the same activities, habits, ideas, etc.   4) Any group of people having the same ancestry; family; clan; lineage   5) a subspecies, or variety b) breed

The three traditional primary divisions of race:

            CAUCASOID

            NEGROID

            MONGOLOID

Question:  So if humankind is of one species and we identify our differences by physical traits, primarily by skin color, then why do we have Black History or Black History Month?

            1) Racism.

            2) Carter G. Woodson. (https://wordpress.co/page/aubreylewis2.com/203)

Human history, beginning with the European slave trade in the New World in 1492, has been written with a specific agenda of perpetuating racism.  People of European descent (mainly Anglo Americans, English and French, and the other European countries to a lesser extent) have been systematically dismissing from the pages of history the contributions of people of color simply because of a belief that skin color somehow makes a person an inferior human, or even sub-human.

Definitions of Caucasoid, Negroid and, Mongoloid

Caucasoid– (adj.) from the erroneous notion that the original home of the hypothetical Indo-Europeans was Caucasus…the Caucasus is a region in Southeast European Russia between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.  Caucasoid is a designating or of one of the major geographical varieties of human being, including peoples of Europe, Africa, the Near East, India, etc., who are generally characterized by tall stature, straight or wavy hair, etc: loosely called the white race although it embraces many peoples of dark skin color.  (noun) a member of the Caucasoid population.

Caucasian– (adj.) of the Caucasus, its people, or their culture.  2) Caucasoid  3) designating or of the two independent families of languages spoken in the area of the Caucasus:  North Caucasian includes Circassian (Northwest Caucasus), and South Caucasian includes Georgian area.  (noun) native of the Caucasus.  2) Caucasoid; 3) the Caucasian languages; Circassian, Georgian, etc.

Negroid– (adj.) designating or of one of the major traditional geographic groupings of human beings, including the majority of peoples of Africa, and peoples of Melanesia, New Guinea, etc, who are generally characterized by a dark skin, very curly hair, etc:  loosely called the Black race.  (noun) a member of the Negroid population.

Negro– (Spanish/ Portuguese) [negro, black, black person> niger, black].  A member of any indigenous, dark-skinned peoples of Africa, living chiefly south of the Sahara, or a person having some African ancestors; a black.  (adj.) designating or of Negroes.  Melanesia- [in reference to the dark skin of the inhabitants] one of the three major divisions of the Pacific Islands, south of the equator and including groups form the Bismarck Archipelago to the Fiji Islands.

Nigger– (noun) Negro.  USAGE- originally simply a dialectal variant of Negro, the term nigger is today acceptable only in black English; in all other contexts it is now generally regarded as virtually taboo because of the legacy of racial hatred that underlies the history of its use among whites, and its continuing use among a minority as a viciously hostile epithet.

Mongoloid– (adj.) designating or of one of the major geographical varieties of human beings, including most of the peoples of Asia, the Eskimos, the North American Indians, etc., who are generally characterized by straight black hair, dark eyes with epicanthic folds, and relatively small structure.

If you read closely to these definitions (which originated from white Europeans and Americans), you will see that the Caucasoid race is extremely flexible and all encompassing…when civilizations are conveniently NOT under the realm of white skinned people.

Caucasoid– (adj.) from the erroneous notion that the original home of the hypothetical Indo-Europeans was Caucasus…the Caucasus is a region in Southeast European Russia between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. (This region has white skinned people due to its climate and isolated location).

Notice that under this definition, Caucasoid is suddenly EXPANDED to include areas in the world where pale skin is hardly in existence.

Caucasoid is a designating or of one of the major geographical varieties of human being, including peoples of Europe, Africa, the Near East, India, etc., ?????? ……who are generally characterized by tall stature, straight??? or wavy??? hair, etc: loosely called the white race although it embraces many peoples of dark skin color.  OH REALLY????…..

Here is an example of SYSTEMIC RACISM IN THE WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY that most people do not pay attention to. Mongoloid and Negroid peoples are located specifically in ONE area, whereas white people are CLAIMING that non-white skinned people are Caucasoid because….well, those societies happen to be civilized, thus they cannot be non-white. Only white people are civilized, Right?
